Happy Birthday!
The Male Room has an Anything Goes challenge, optional twist, no designer papers. I needed a birthday card for my BIL, so perfect timing!!
Older SU sentiment. I used a few different alcohol inks to create the distressed/rusted look on the metallic paper, then embossed it with the Diamond Plate folder. The studs were gold toned. I sanded them and used the same alcohol inks to make them coordinate with the paper. I may have to make more of this one!

All that glitters...
The Jingle Belles have a challenge to use metallics and/or glitter. Since many of the cards that I make go to deployed military as encouragement or for them to send home, glitter is forbidden. Glitter shows up on night vision, so I don't even allow it in my house!! Metallics it is!
Here i my first try:
Silver washi tape layered on silver mat, silver and white joy die cut. OK, but I thought I would try again.
I buy a lot of my metallics from Hollo Paper in Brunswick, OH, in 4x6. Those dimensions leave a lot of strips left over. I used matte silver and textured gold strips to make my background, and layered it on red and gold metallic mats. LOVE!!! Lawn Fawn joy die cut.
Come join us at Words to Craft By for our Kindness challenge!!

Written in the Stars...
The Twofer challenge this time around is Stars:
Here are my submissions:
I used pearl star die cuts on a navy shimmer background and Unity sentiment for the left card, washi tape with a silver metallic negative die cut and layer for the one on the right. I liked my first washi card better, but realized that the challenge required different occasions, not just different uses. Here is my first one:

Inky Fingers
I love playing with alcohol inks, but I always manage to get them all over my hands despite wearing gloves!
I inked the panel in silver, orange, and purple, and layered it with white and dark grey. The satin ribbon and die cuts add a bit of texture. Sharing with The Color Throwdown #531 & Try Stampin On Tuesday #395:

W2CB #62 - Kindness of Friends
Welcome back to Words 2 Craft By and our Kindness of Friends challenge. Our words this month are from A.A. Milne:
Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind.
"Pooh!" he whispered. "Yes, Piglet?" "Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw.
"I just wanted to be sure of you.
February 17 is National Act of Kindness Day. Sometimes just knowing your friend is there is the greatest kindness of all.
Fun Doodlebug Day to Day papers, Hero Arts sentiment. Come play along with us February 13 through March 6!

Sunset
The Color Throwdown challenge this week:
Although the image is upbeat, the colors remind me of sunset.
Paper inked with Distress Oxide Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Barn Door. Unity sentiment stamped in Versafine and heat embossed in clear. The horizontal element is a piece of antique silk moire ribbon. I have a small wooden spool, and only use it on special projects. A friend lost her brother to mental illness. This is for her. :(

Pretty Trash or Fun Card?
The Jingle Belles have a Shape Up for the New Year challenge - make a card that isn't a square or rectangle. I'm not sure about this one. Pretty trash? Fun shape? You be the judge.
I used a nativity ornament die and fussy cut to fit in the We R Memory Keepers die cut frame and card base. Not what I had envisioned, but fun process. That's what matters, right?
