Clean and Simple

Fab Friday has a sketch challenge:
I paired a beautiful paper from DCWV Taj Mahal with shiny gold for this:

I made another one with the same stack, but used a patterned metallic gold paper:

Plaid for Christmas

The Paper Players have a plaid challenge going on:

I embossed Dasher in black, and layered him on gold and black.  The yummy plaid is from the MME "Yes, Please" paper pad.  Be sure to check out the Words 2 Craft By Heroes challenge!!

W2CB #64 - Heroes

Our Words 2 Craft By quote this month come from Gerald Way:

All the best heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary.

My favorite superheroes are the men and women serving in the armed forces around the world, leaving their homes and families to keep the rest of us safe.

These will go to Cards for Soldiers to be included in care packages for deployed military.  Did you know that April 28 is National Super Hero Day?!?  What better way to honor our everyday heroes!!!  Please join us at Words 2 Craft By through May 1, and show us your super hero!!

Paperless Post Party Invitations

As much as I enjoy making cards, sometimes email is more practical.  That's why I LOVE Paperless Post.  They make great looking electronic cards.  We are having a retirement party for a friend, and plan to invite more than 100 people.  Because it is a surprise, the last thing I want is for him to see an invitation at someone's house.  And making that many invitations and managing the attendees requires more time than I have to spare.

Paperless Post emails super cute invitations, tracks RSVPs, and even provides direction to the venue!!!

Here is the invite we are sending for the party:
Since the party will be outside at night, I chose a stars theme.  When the recipient clicks on the invitation, the Paperless Post website opens, they will see this screen:

Guests can add the event to their personal calendar, or send a message with any questions.  No paper trail for David to see (and spoil the surprise), easy for guests to respond, and a lot less work for everyone!  For large parties, Paperless Post is a great alternative to snail mail!

Alleluia!!

The Male Room has a Spring challenge this time around.
I inked the background 3 different times, trying to get the color separation between the ground and the sky.  I wanted it to be blurry, but still have a bit of definition.  Not perfect, but I am happy with it.  Darice die cut, Oxide inks.  Old, unknown sentiment.  Be sure to check back on April 10 for the next Words 2 Craft By challenge!

Just for Fun

The Paper Girls have an April Fools challenge, looking for a joke, prank, or something funny.  I discovered I am woefully lacking a whimsical or funny stamps.

Fun papers from Main Squeeze, older sketch from Operation Write Home.  Be sure to check back on Wednesday for the next Words 2 Craft By challenge!!

Try Stampin' On Tuesday Sketch Challenge

I struggle with mixing patterned papers, so this TSOT challenge was a tough one for me:

I wasn't thrilled with my first attempt:
My second attempt was a bit better.  Maybe I just like the brighter colors!  And the flower jewels are a definite plus.

Be sure to check back on Wednesday for the next Words 2 Craft By challenge!!

Shattered Triangles

I splurged on some new dies this week, and they seemed to fit The Color Throwdown challenge #537:
I inked oxide in Dusty Concord, Peeled Paint, and Fossilized Amber to create the background for the shattered triangles:

Easter Egg

The Fusion challenge this week is:
As soon as I saw the image, I thought of a Gina K die that doesn't get enough love:
This Bazzill embossed paper is the perfect background for the Gina K die and grosgrain ribbon.  On the inside, I included a Gina K Happy Easter die cut in the same dark purple as the egg.

I'm Back!

I have been neglecting my blog and challenge lately.  It's not that I haven't been crafting, I just haven't made anything for challenges.  Sometime I make cards "just because"!

I saw a great layout on Try Stampin' On Tuesday, and I had to join in:
I was feeling sorry for myself this weekend.  There was a stamp show nearby, and I couldn't go.  Instead, I treated myself to one of the Tuesday Morning $2.99 paper pads.  Not because I might need paper in the next 100 years, but because it made me happy!
The gold reflected in the picture :(.  The majority of my cards to overseas to deployed military, so "love" cards are always in demand.  I will be using this sketch often!
