Colors of Fall

I so love playing with Inka Gold, so many ways to play.  I mixed the Inka Gold with a little bit of water, and this is the effect:

Embossed background highlighted with Inka Gold red, gold, brown, and copper, heat embossed sentiment, both edged with Krylon gold paint.  I love this!!!  I think this will be my Thanksgiving card!!!  I am linking this up to the Cards in Envy Colors of Fall, Simply Create Too Autumn Splendor, and the Simplicity Thanksgiving challenges.  There are still a few days left to play along with the Words 2 Scrap By Ahoy Matey challenge!!!

Wheels!

I have a bazillion brads - and I am on a quest to use some of them!  This is for the Cuttlebug Mania Wheels challenge.
The Eyelet Outlet dump trucks are on hills of kraft paper I embossed with an old Sizzix alligator texture plate, tore the hills, and inked, with an SU! sentiment.  Just a few more days to play along with the Ahoy Matey challenge at Words 2 Scrap By - join us!

Flower Focused Card

I am having such fun playing with with my Triple Circle die.  The Mod Squad challenge is to make a card with a flower as the focal point.

Old Marvy flower punch layered with a brad center.  SU! sentiment.  Fun!  There are a few more days left to join us for the Ahoy Matey challenge over at Words 2 Scrap By!!

Shopping Our Stash - Mirror

I LOVE mirror paper, and am lucky to have recently bought some heavy card stock that is HOLOGRAPHIC mirror!!!  And it was super inexpensive.  Woot woot!!
This card is nothing like I had planned.  I used a Spellbinders background die, but the card stock was too thick to cut completely.  OK, it looks like it is embossed.  That works. Then I tried to cut the sentiment from the same stuff.  Nope - too thick.  So the sentiment is cut with plain old mirror paper.  The black strip is shiny, also.  Super simple, but I am very happy with it!

And a partridge in a pear tree....

Now that we have had a break in the heat, I am starting to work on Christmas cards.  On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
I finally inked up this Unity Itty Bitty and stamped it on vellum, colored it with Derwent watercolor pencils, layered on Seven Gypsies paper, and mounted on a dark green card base.  I am sharing this with the Shopping Our Stash/Jingle Belles joint challenge,  CASual Fridays Musical challenge, Merry Monday holly challenge, and Cards in Envy Inspired by a Song.  Whew!  It's unusual for me to have one card entered multiple challenges!!!  Be sure to stop by Words 2 Scrap By for our Talk Like a Pirate challenge!!!!

Stitch It Up

The House of Cards September Challenge is Stitch It Up.  I bought the fabulous Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles (both sizes, of course) and used them on the blue and flowered layers.  I used the tracing wheel technique to put the stitching on the red layer.  They have been sadly underused, especially since I need to make cards for my sewing friends!
Unity Sew Cute sentiment and paper pieced image, Marvy punched buttons, DCWV Linen Closet paper. Added to the Quirky Crafts challenge Quickly Sewn, too!  Come play along with the Words 2 Scrap By Challenge - Ahoy, Matey!

Green & Gold

I make a lot of cards as Christmas gifts.  Monogrammed cards are one of the most requested, as they can be used for many different occasions.  The Less is More challenge is to use green and gold - what an elegant combo!  I hope this is CAS enough for their guidelines....
Crackle and Thin Lines Darice embossing folders, Spellbinder dies, Stampendous monogram sticker.  I liked this layout and color combo so much that I made 10+ of these with different initials and embossing folders.  Did you know that September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day?  Come join the Ahoy Matey challenge at Words 2 Scrap By!!

Put a Bird on It!

The Shopping Our Stash challenge is Put a Bird on It.  Birds are creepy.  I never got over seeing Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" as a child.  So, any bird challenge, any time of the year, sends me to Halloween.
Not sure I love my improvised wrought iron fence.  I punched the Martha Stewart picket fence three times, and put them together.  The birds are from Spellbinder Birds on a Wire die.  The background is inked with various SU! inks.  Come play along with us at Words 2 Scrap By for our September challenge - Ahoy Matey! - in honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19!!!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers - I is for Image

The current challenge from The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is to make a card using an image - no sentiment.  Crafting i an iterative process for me - keep trying until I get it right.  Here is my first attempt:
Meh, ok, but missing something.  How about a sparkly ribbon?
MUCH better.  Amazing what a difference a single element can make.  Lovely as a Tree image heat embossed in silver, distress inked then layered on silver mirrored paper and DCWV Winter Magic silver, blue and white snowflake paper.

Words 2 Scrap By September Challenge - Ahoy, Matey!

Did you know that September 19 is International Talk Like a Pirate Day?  In honor of this fabulous day of fun, the Words 2 Scrap By challenge is Ahoy, Matey! Make a card/project inspired by one of the following pirate expressions:
  • Ahoy, Matey!
  • Arrrr!
  • Blimey!
  • Yo Ho Ho!
Here is my nautical themed card:
The ship is lightly colored with watercolor pencils, die cut with Spellbinder dies, and layered with a clear piece of packaging to make the portal.  Sentiment from Unity.  The paneling is textured with a Sizzix woodgrain embossing folder.  LOVE!!
