Bobbi here for the Words 2 Craft By mid-challenge inspiration.
I
have been subscribing to the SU! Paper Pumpkin, but the kits are not
always my taste. The December kit was for a memory book - not my
thing. But, the acetate pages were perfect for a project that has been
in my head for years.... making Happy Day Planners for my siblings!
I
have a page for every month, and family celebrations are included in
the calendar. Each page is 5" x 7". I made the calendar in Word, and
layered with a pretty gold card stock onto gray and white patterned
paper.
My Mother's greatest fear was that we would no longer be a
family after she died. I have listened to and read so many stories
about sibling fighting over end of life care and possessions. Despite there being 5 siblings, we made it through her
illness and death closer than ever. I am so grateful.
I thought this gift for my siblings
might further our connection. I have 2 of these completed, and need to
make at least 2 or 3 more (our generations overlap). Labor of love!!
Our February/March W2CB Challenge is open through March 1. Details can be found here. Hope to see your card/project in the gallery.

Thinking of You!
Kim from Can You Case It? has a great color Pink, Red, Black, and Silver inspiration this week. I am having so much fun with my Gina Marie "quilt" dies.
I used an old OWH sketch, then mixed pink and white embossing powder to get the right color for the Our Daily Bread sentiment. I embossed the square with Divine Swirls to mimic quilting.

Here is another project outside of my comfort zone.

Vintage Nest
I have been trying to step outside my comfort zone and try different
styles. Vintage is so NOT me, and I rarely make square cards. Image
was colored with watercolor pencils.
I am sharing this with the Card Concept Vintage challenge and the Color Throwndown #430.

Snowman with Vellum
While the end result is nothing like I pictured in my head, I still like it!!
I dry embossed a piece of vellum and a piece of white paper using the same Sizzix folder. I used foam daubers to lightly ink the paper layer in red, grey, blue, and silver, then added the vellum on top. I mounted the layers on a powder blue card base. I hope the vellum is qualifies for the Jingle Belles Midnight Clear challenge. I am also sharing with the Merry Monday Christmas Snowman challenge. It's a lot prettier in person...

Christmas Quilt
Last Christmas, every card I sent was hand made by me. I want to be able to do the same this year, so I am trying to play along with different challenges, and make Christmas cards. This way, I will have a diverse stash of cards and won't be pressured at the last minute.
I made two cards using two different patterned papers with green "sashing". For the quilting, I embossed both quilt squares with a snowflake folder. For the first card, I stamped the sentiment in ink, then in VersaMark, and heat embossed with clear powder. I am really enjoying this Gina Marie die!!! I am sharing this with the Jingle Belles Flake challenge, and the Mod Squad TEXT(urize) challenge. Lots of time to play with us at Words 2 Craft By - Let's Celebrate!!

More Hearts
I needed a Valentine for our teenage son. It is hard to make a love card be masculine!
Spellbinders Cascading Hearts background die, Lawn Fawn sentiment layered and highlighted with Wink of Stella. I'm sharing this with Simply Create Too #124 - Love. Come play along with our Celebrations challenge at Words 2 Craft By!!

(Not) The Winter Blues
Shopping Our Stash has a Winter Blues challenge to create a card in shades of blue, but NOT a winter card. I made some very pretty trash today. I got too far into my head, and over thought the challenge. First, my pretty trash:
It just doesn't look right. Off balance? Poor layout? Maybe needs a ribbon on the circle element? Sigh. If at first you don't succeed...
The elephant is popped up on two Spellbinders die cuts. I'm not in love (I think the twill tape is too wide and too long), but it's acceptable.
What are you celebrating? Come share with us at Words 2 Craft By!!!

Sweet Giraffe
Something about giraffes make me think of babies.
I colored this sweetie with watercolor pencils, and added a bow and tag for the sentiment. The orange layer was dry embossed with a giraffe print (I have waited forever for the perfect project for that folder!). Despite the embellishments, I still think this guy is pretty CAS. Plenty of "white" space for me, so I am sharing this the Addicted to Clean and Simple Code Word #104 - Pets.
Come play along with our "Celebrations" challenge over at Words 2 Craft By!!

W2CB #38 - Celebrate!
It has
been said that a Scotchman has not seen the world until he has seen Edinburgh;
and I think that I may say that an American has not seen the United States
until he has seen Mardi-Gras in New Orleans. ─ Mark Twain
If
you have ever gone to New Orleans during Mardi Gras season, you would
understand. With wall to wall people, colorful costumes, beads and
other items thrown from the Crewe floats, it is quite the spectacle. I
actually caught a "Mardi Bra". The parades early in the season are
general celebrations, while the parades and balls held during the last
few days are more traditional. All are amazing!
Love the Color Burst background. Bottle and glass are Repeat Impressions and paper pieced. Our challenge runs February 8-March 1. Come play along and show us how you celebrate!

Quilting with Paper
In a moment of weakness, I bought a Gina Marie quilt die from Wholesale Crafting Supplies (NAYY). Great price, low shipping, received 2 days after I ordered. I thought the Color Throwdown and House of Cards challenges were the perfect opportunity to break it in.
Here are the inspiration images and my version
The quilt pieces are subtle patterns from K & Co, and I embossed the block with Divine Swirls to mimic quilting The pink layer on the card base is a parchment pattern, it doesn't show up in the photo.
