Christmas Quilt

Last Christmas, every card I sent was hand made by me.  I want to be able to do the same this year, so I am trying to play along with different challenges, and make Christmas cards.  This way, I will have a diverse stash of cards and won't be pressured at the last minute.

I made two cards using two different patterned papers with green "sashing".  For the quilting, I embossed both quilt squares with a snowflake folder.  For the first card, I stamped the sentiment in ink, then in VersaMark, and heat embossed with clear powder.  I am really enjoying this Gina Marie die!!!  I am sharing this with the Jingle Belles Flake challenge, and the Mod Squad TEXT(urize) challenge. Black, Red, & White

I saw a great card gatefold layout on Our Little Inspirations, and had to CASE it.  Here is my version:

I cut and folded the card base in a matte black and cream card base.  I layered a shiny black paper embossed with snowflakes.  Then I cut the Spellbinder cut and fold die with a paper with mirrored red and white paper.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white on the same paper as the card base.  I am linking this up with Can You Case It challenge #105 (red, black, and white or neutral).  There are a few more days left to join us in the Words 2 Craft By New Beginnings challenge!

Snowflake Die Cut!

I have been so busy with the holidays, I have neglected my paper passion.  God is always good, bringing the blessing of family and friends.  Santa was good to me, bringing goodies and gift cards.  Here is a Joann score - a beautiful snowflake die for $5!!!
Holographic mirror paper accented with 8 faceted crystals.  I had planned to add a sentiment, but the die cut, bling, and shiny black paper were all this card needed.  I will be using this as a holiday thank you, and linking it up to The Male Room #25 - Seasonal, and Mod Squad Anything Goes

As an aside, I encourage you to carpe diem - seize the day.  For months, my cyber-friend Leslie (from The Crooked Stamper, Shopping Our Stash, and others) and I have been trying to schedule time to have coffee.  There was always something in the way - kids, job, spouse, house, etc.  Well, Leslie died Christmas Day.  Now I will never have the chance....  Don't let life's "busyness" get in the way of what is really important - connecting with others.

Embossing Two Ways

I never seem to have the right color embossing powder to go with my projects, so I tried different combinations of ink color and powder to give me a different color.  Nailed it!!!

Core'dinations Pearls paper embossed with Darice and Cuttlebug folders, Sweet Stamps sentiment stamped in Megan Elizabeth Limelight ink and heat embossed with Stampendous Pearlized Amethyst.  I didn't have a snowflake punch large enough the mat the sentiment, so I improvised and used a Moroccan Motifs die cut.  I am linking this up with Fusion {Blue Christmas} Simply Create - Snow/Mostly White and Cuttlebug Mania's Embossing challenge.  Check back on December 1 for the Words to Scrap By December challenge!

Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge - Snowflakes

This month, the OWH Our Daily Bread Designs challenge is to make Non-Christmas cards with Snowflakes on them.

I always need thank you cards after the holidays, and I think our heroes will, too.   I decided to take it one step further, and use non-traditional winter colors, too!

DCWV paper embossed with snowflake folder, Fiskars sentiment heat embossed with white embossing powder, stash dimensional snowflake attached with super thin Zots.

clean and simple: 305!

Today's sketch over at clean & simple stamping features a big star as the focal point.

I am not sure that my card would be considered simple....

The stars were cut using Spellbinders dies, letters and star cut from DCWV glitter paper, coordinations pearls paper embossed with Cuttlebug snowflakes folder, organdy ribbon.  Embossed paper and star popped up with dimensional tape.

OWH Mid Week Throw Down - Nature of Christmas

This weeks challenge is to make a holiday card inspired by nature.

What says winter holidays more than snowflakes?!?!?

Snowflakes from Favorite Findings.  They are shiny silver, and are dimensional.  Patterned paper form DCWV Winter Stack.  Silver paper and ribbon form stash.  Navy card base is white on the inside.   The inside in blank, our heroes can make this card into whatever they want, thank you, non-religious holiday, etc.  They don't have to use it for Christmas.

OWH Mid Week Throw Down - Silver and Turquoise

This week's challenge from Operation Write Home is to make a card using the colors turquoise and silver.

Here is my card.

I always have a hard time photographing this shiny paper!

Sentiment from Fiskars, ink Colorbox, ribbon Offray.  The silver paper is from a paper outlet, no brand given, and textured with Cuttlebug snowflake folder.  Background paper Recollections.
