Layered Stencils

I participated in the Crop and Create online event last March, and was introduced to layering stencils by Taylored Expressions.  So easy, and I love how detailed they are!

This one is called In My Garden.  The stencil makes 3 mini slimline cards at a time, all of them different.  After I finished stenciling, I used markers and a white gel pen to add some highlights to the flowers.

I love stacking multiple cuts of word dies.  Vicki Boutin used puffy foam to achieve the dimension.  Genius!  Much cleaner than trying to perfectly glue together a bunch of layers, and the foam I had on hand already had adhesive on one side.

Dreams Come True

Had a great time getting messy with a stencil this past weekend.  The domed foam blenders and oxide inks have been life changing in my craft room!  So much easier than the flat foam, no harsh edges, smoother application.  Made this cool background that was perfect for the Freshy Made Sketches #522 challenge.

The stencil wasn't large enough to cover the whole front in the portrait orientation, and the horizontal element allowed me to cover up the imperfect second round of inking.  I should have overlapped one row of scales to line up the stencil more accurately.  I inked the dolphin and the horizontal element so they would coordinate perfectly.

Oxide Inking

The Color Throwdown challenge this week:
I broke out my oxide inks and a stencil and came up with these:
I used Weathered Wood and Shaded Lilac for the one on the right, and thought it looked too blue.  The Milled Lavender and the larger stencil for the card on the left looks better to me, but they both work!
