OWH Sketch Challenge #131

I have SUCH a hard time with challenges - guess that is why they are called CHALLENGES!!!!

Operation Write Home has a weekly sketch challenge.   Here is my take on this week's challenge.

I used Paper Runway scraps, textured the pink background with Swiss Dot embossing folder, and added some edge cording by Making Memories.  Sentiment from TPC Studio.

Not my favorite project, but it did force me to do something different!!!!

Indiana Word Book Fun!

We had three (yes, three!) graduations in our family this year.  For each of the girls, I made a keepsake word book.  They used the books to showcase the wallet sized photos of their friends.

For the Indiana University graduate, I used red and white on one side of each page, and IU paper on the reverse.  I put photo mats on each page, and included extra paper and stickers as part of the gift.

I bound the word book using my GBC ComBind machine and 3/8" white comb bind from MyBinding.com.  I really like the GBC binding, as it is much less expensive than others brands made for papercrafting.

Peaceful Butterflies

I like to work will many different styles and layouts, but I find that I am most comfortable with the CAS cards.  As much as I enjoying looking at elaborate creations, they are just not me.

Case in point:

The butterfly stamp is from Martha Stewart, sentiment from Fiskars.  Buttons are from Favorite Findings, and are sewn onto the top layer, and secured with a dot of Glossy Accents.

Most importantly, I need to learn to take better pictures!!!!

Take a Walk on the Wild Side...

Ollie's Bargain Barn  is a junk store of the highest order!  Like Big Lots/Odd Lots used to be.  You never know what you will find there. I love finding supplies in unexpected places!

This great leopard print paper and coordinating solid are from Ollie's, and did not have a manufacturer name on the packaging.  The black paper is also from Ollie's, made by Slice, and I embossed it with the Fiskars Leather plate.

Top stamp is from Close to my Heart Woodland Sentiments, bottom is from My Favorite Things Dream Big.  Black heat set metals are from Design by Dawn

OWH Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge

Operation Write Home's Midweek Throwdown this week is a color challenge to create a card using two or more complimentary colors.  Sounds easy, right?  Then why did it take me 2 hours to make this card?!?!

Guess I have to work on my color combinations...

Sentiment is from Fiskars, flower stamp is from Inkadinkado, pearl flower centers are from Want2Scrap.

Triple Time Bobbi Style

I saw a wonderful card at DOStamping with Dawn.  I loved the look, but thought that 6 layers of cardstock, plus the card base, would be a bit thick for mailing.

So, I opened my trusty SCAL, and made my own cut file.  Instead of layering solid pieces of cardstock, I can layer frames of patterned paper and matting!!

You can download the free SVG or SCUT file to cut your own layered cards!

My version using DCWV Black Currant paper:

Different papers give a completely different look, like this funky K & Company paper :

Stamps are both TPC Studio.

Added Note:  I have had requests to post the dimensions of the layers.  Here they are in inches.
For the solid mat layers:
4.25" x 5.5"
3.25 x 4.5
2.25 x 3.5
1 x 2

For the patterned layers:
4 x 5.25
3 x 4.25
2 x 3.25

I Like Your Style...

I just love paper and purses, so I had to combine the two in these cards I made for Operation Write Home (http://operationwritehome.org).

The top card uses Amy Butler paper and purchased embellishment.

The bottom card uses DCWV Black Currant paper scraps, and I cut the purse embellishment using my Cricut and SCAL.  Black satin ribbon was used for the handles.

Stamp from Clearly Defined.

Diving Right In!!

Have been feeling a little left out, so I started a blog.  I hope to post different projects that I make.
