Talk about a challenge!!! I am away from home, visiting my in laws in their beautiful home in the mountains of Tennessee. My MIL, Pat, is one of the most creative people I know, but her interests run more toward sewing and machine embroidery, not cardmaking. As I didn't bring any supplies with me - I challenged myself to create the card using only items I could find in her (vast) sewing room. What fun!!!
She embroiders postcards, so she only has solid papers - not a pattern to be found. She also prefers to generate her sentiments with her computer - very few stamps and inks. Soooo, this is what I came up with! Kaiser Craft images, TPC Studios sentiment, SEI ink, beautiful handmade, orange mulberry paper, crystals from DesignByDawn.com.

ODBD Challenge - Sentiment Focused Cards
Our Daily Bread Designs issues a monthly challenge to Operation write Home cardmakers. If 50 cardmakers link up their cards made for their challenge, they will pay the shipping for 2 boxes of cards destined for our heroes!
This month's challenge is to create cards with a sentiment focus.
Unfortunately, this card can't be used for OWH for two reasons. First and most important, the lower panel did not pass the glitter sweater test after I cut into it. It was fine as a whole sheet, but cutting it released bits of glitter. I think I got it all, but I would rather err on the side of caution. Secondly, Sandy HATES this sentiment!!! LOL!
Paper from DCWV Lemon Flower matstack, silver paper from stash, sentiment from TPC Studios, hot fix crystals from Design by Dawn. OWH Sketch B-22.

OWH VCMP - White or Cream Card
The Desert Rose Stamper's challenge is to make a card using only white or cream, with the exception of the sentiment, and 3 layers of something (card stock, ribbon, etc.).
Here is mine:
Even with good lighting, the picture does not do the card justice :(
My layers are:
- card base
- sentiment layer
- embossed layer
- lace trim
- satin ribbon
- pearls
Card stock is Coredinations Pearls, upper layer embossed with Sizzix folder, sentiment is from TPC Studios, scrap lace trim, satin ribbon, pearls from Design by Dawn. Ink metallic Royal Silk by Color Box.

OWH Mid Week Throw Down - Any Hero Thank You
This week’s Mid Week Throw Down challenge at OWH is to make an Any Hero card and use Red, White & Blue.
Over at May Arts, the challenge is for a Patriot's Day card, using this sketch from Sandy Allnock:
Here is my interpretation:
Not my favorite work, but I learned a lot in the proccess. And that makes it worthwhile!!! The red and white are ribbons, topped with red rick rack. The red stars are heat set metals from Design By Dawn. The card base is liight blue (doesn't show well, but my laptop with my editing software is in the computer hospital). The other paper layers are navy. One layer embossed with stars, the other stamped with THANKS from Fiskars.

Dress Form Card
I love cards with texture, especially embossing, ribbon, and fabrics.
I made this card as a sample for a blog hop. It wasn't accepted, but I still like it!! The tulle adds a lot of dimension, but not a lot of bulk. This card fit in a standard A2 envelope.
If you use fabric on a card, be sure to check the selvedge for copyright information. If the fabric is licensed (Snoopy, Dora, college or professional sports, etc.), be sure the card is for personal use, not for sale or to donate to an organization.
The background paper is K and Company, embossed with a Sizzix texture plate. I drew the dress form, and cut it on my cutter. Stamp is from My Favorite Things. Tulle and sparkly yarn from my stash. I also added a crystal on the very top of the dress form from Design By Dawn.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side...
Ollie's Bargain Barn is a junk store of the highest order! Like Big Lots/Odd Lots used to be. You never know what you will find there. I love finding supplies in unexpected places!
This great leopard print paper and coordinating solid are from Ollie's, and did not have a manufacturer name on the packaging. The black paper is also from Ollie's, made by Slice, and I embossed it with the Fiskars Leather plate.
Top stamp is from Close to my Heart Woodland Sentiments, bottom is from My Favorite Things Dream Big. Black heat set metals are from Design by Dawn.
