A Polka Dot Sketch Challenge

The CYCI #122 Sketch and the Dragonfly Journeys challenges spoke to me.

Spellbinders Contemporary Circles background die, Paper Smooches sentiment.  Love the subtle polka dot strip, and how it echoes the background.  Yay!!

Here is the CYCI sketch:

Deep Blue Hello!

The Card in Envy challenge is about the color blue.  A perfect opportunity to play with some Twinkling H2O paint.

Watercolor paper, Bolivian Blue, Stargazer, and Mediterranean Blue Twinkling H2Os, mounted on DCWV Shimmer paper.  I masked the sentiment with Molotow masking fluid, and painted the three colors.  Pretty pearl finish on the paint!!!

Use It or Lose It!!

The challenge this week at the Mod Squad Challenge is Use it or Lose It.  Choose something I have not used for a long time, rarely used, or never used, and put it to work.  Well... I have plenty of goodies that fall into that category!!

The Kaiser Craft Home for Christmas paper pad and stamps were give freebies from the Simon Says Create event last October.  I love the clear embossing patterns on the paper, and how the patterns coordinate with the stamps!!

I have been terrible about card making and blogging for the past month or two, and it's not going to get better any time soon.  My son graduated from high school last weekend.  Being the procrastinator I am, I was 13 years behind on his first day of school scrapbook (LOL!), and 6 years behind on his sports scrapbook.  I finished the school album, and phoned it in on the sports album.  Track season has 4 weeks to go!  State next weekend!!  Woo hoo!!!

There is still time to join us at W2CB!!

This month, we are inspired by the following Tenneva Jordan definition of motherhood.

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people,
promptly announces she never did care for pie.

The challenge is open until the first Wednesday of June, which is June 1. There is a Guest I-Teamer spot up for grabs, as well as a $10 MFT gift certificate.  Click here to show how you interpret the challenge!!

This proud Momma has been super busy finishing two scrapbooks for my son who graduated this past Saturday, preparing his celebration, cooking, etc., so I have been a bit absent from card making and blogging.  Plus, he is a track athlete who is still competing this year (Regional meet is this Friday), consuming even more time!  I love crafting, but not as much as I love him.  Guess that fits in with our challenge!  When it come right down to it, I never really cared for crafting (LOL)!

By the way, I am 5'7"!!!!!  I will post some of his scrapbook pages over the next few weeks.

Four pieces of pie for five people...

Sounds like my Mom!  She loved burnt toast, disliked pie (only when there wasn't enough to go around), and didn't mind waiting until next year for new shoes.  So happy she lived long enough for me to recognize how amazing she was, raising the five of us alone after Dad died.  Hey - she successfully ran a concrete business in the 1960s!!!

In honor of her love for cherry pie, here is my interpretation:
I took the photo at an angle to show off the great embossing on the cherry paper, and the beadies on the pie!
Image heat embossed and colored with Derwent watercolour pencils.  I added the red beadies (aka bead holes) for cherries in the pie.  We R Memory Keepers washi tape for the accent.

I have been quite absent from blogging lately.  My son is getting ready to graduate from high school this month, and I am scrambling to finish it before his party.  I have a first day of school and a school picture for every year.  He won't appreciate it, but I console myself thinking that someday his wife or son might enjoy it!!!
