Die Cuts - Positive and Negative

These die cuts have been sitting in my basket of new goodies for quite a while, waiting for the perfect way to use them.  I think this qualifies!!
Very simple layout for this sympathy card I will send to a friend who recently lost her kitty.  I am sharing this with the Mod Squad Animal Fun challenge.

Watercolors

At the Simon Says Create event last fall, one of the projects used watercolors and masking.  I don't have any artist watercolors, but I do have an old Crayola Watercolor set from my son's grade school days, lol!!  They are not as intense as real watercolors, but they were fun to play with.  The Can You Cast It challenge #109 is a color challenge:
CYCI#109
Here is my card:
I used a Molotow masking liquid masking marker to mask the sentiment, and brushed yellows, greens, and blues.

Still a few days left to join us at Words 2 Craft By Heart's Devotion challenge ending March 1!!

Hanging in there...

A dear friend gifted me with the cutest wire coat hangers, and I was so happy to see the challenge from Less is More to use wire on a project.
La Creme background, dress cut on my KNK from shiny paper, Maya Road wire hanger.  I didn't have a large brad, so I heat embossed a bright brass brad in black.  Love how the simple dress contrasts to the stitched look of the background.  The Mommy Dearest line keeps going through my head - no more wire hangers!  Uh oh, I think I just showed my age....

There are a few more days to join us in the Words 2 Craft By Heart's Devotion challenge.

Ohio Star

I love the look of paper piecing, especially when the embossing looks like quilting!  I like this one even more with one of my favorite color combinations - orange and green and pink!!
http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/2016/02/throwdown-countdown-381.html
I "quilted" the blocks with a swirled embossing folder.  The sentiments are rub ons.  Just a few more days to play along with us at Words 2 Craft By with our Hearts Devotion challenge!!

Mojo Monday

I always have good intentions about joining in the Mojo Monday challenges, but rarely follow through.  THIS week is different!

Their sketch and my version:
I interpreted the sketch pretty literally.  I had doggies on the brain today.  Last night, one of my labs had three grand mal and one petit mal seizures in less than 10 hours.  Pretty scary for everyone.  I stayed home from work take him to the vet and monitor him.  He is now on a different epilepsy drug that we are hoping works for my "Best Bud"!  Die cuts from Elizabeth Crafts, sentiment is a rub on.  I am thinking that I need to put some "food" in the bowl - it isn't obvious what that red "thing" is!

Red, Grey, and White

This week's challenge looks like this:
Being a Michigan fun, this is NOT my favorite color combo!!!  Here is my card:
Bazzill Love Story papers, Fiskars Texture Plate for the top layer.  Just a few more days to join us in the Words 2 Craft By's Heart's Desire challenge!

CYCI # 108 - Sketch

The challenge this week at Can You CASE It is a sketch:
CYCI#108
I love this clean and simple sketch!  Here's my version:

Lots of unknown goodness here.  The sentiment is a rub on, the flowerpot a 3D sticker.  The background paper (K & Co?) is embossed using an ancient Fiskars texture plate.  The purple base layer is a linen-textured (Recollections?).  I made a lot of pretty trash this weekend.  So happy to have finally made something worth keeping!  Just a few more days to join us at Words to Craft By for our Heart's Devotion challenge!!

A Hand to Hold

The Words 2 Craft By quote this month comes form Mark Twain:

I can promise all my heart's devotion;
A smile to chase away your tears of sorrow;
A love that's true and ever growing;
A hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.

A baby counts on her parents to always hold her hand.
I love this pink and grey combination!  Unity image, Pebbles, Inc. rub on.  I am sharing this with the Cards in Envy Pink challenge

Can You CASE It?

Their sketch for the week:
CYCI#106
My version:
Doodlebug papers, SRM Stickers sentiment.  Come play along with the Words to Craft By Heart's Desire challenge!!

CAS Blooms

I love to make and give monogrammed cards.  They can be used for most any occasion, and there are soooo many options!

Flowers stamped in Versamark, and heat embossed in clear.  Add some sleek layers and a matching sticker - DONE!  For the top stripe, I used a piece of the embossed layer I had trimmed.  I am sharing this with Addicted to Clean and Simple.  I hope this is clean enough for their challenge...

Come join us over at Words 2 Craft By for our latest challenge - Love and Friendship.

Words 2 Craft By - Love & Friendship

For me, loving is about everyone who offers support and encouragement.  The February Words 2 Craft By challenge is about all of the people who make our lives better by simply existing.

Shaped Card

I don't often make shaped cards, so I was happy to see the prompt from House of Cards.  I think I need to make these more often!
I cut the round card base, and layered a scalloped circle cut from a yummy cream and gold flecked card stock.  Then I alternated butterflies cut from the same cards stock and a deep gold metallic.  The wings of each butterfly are popped up.  I am sharing this with House of Cards - Shaped challenge.  On Wednesday, check back with Words 2 Craft By for our February challenge.

Less is More?

The Less is More challenge is to create something Aussie.  I am not sure if this qualifies...  Hedgehogs are found in New Zealand, is that close enough?!?
Spellbinder dies, Our Daily Bread Designs tag and sentiment.  I hope this is CAS enough!!

Clean & Layered Hearts

I have a variety of border punches, but forget to use them!  My favorite is a Martha Stewart heart punch.

I can't decide which version I like better.  The white one is is sweet and girly.  The grey is  a bit less feminine.  The grey ribbon is hem tape probably 60 years old, from my mother's sewing basket!!!
