The current challenge over at The Male Room is In the Air, No Birds. The Hitchcock movie scarred me as a child. To me, birds are creepy! LOL! I am finishing up my LAST box of cards for Operation Write Home. With the military draw down, the need for cards is much less. Yeay!
Hero Arts stamps (they have been a great supporter of OWH), Daric Clouds embossing folder highlighted with white pearl ink. Stash ribbon, heat set stars from CrystalEyeCandy.com. Check back on July 1 for the next Words2ScrapBy.blogspot.com challenge!

The Card Concept #38
The inspiration for The Card Concept is:
Love the colors, and the image is so peaceful. Here is my Clean and Layered version:
A few years ago, when I lost my Mom, my cousin gave me a package of
thank you notes and stamps. What a sweet, practical gesture! To pay my cousin's kindness forward, I am making thank you notes for a local family who is facing leukemia. Their son, James, is only 18.
The gold layers are Bazzil, the black is shiny from my stash. The patterned paper is DCDW Posies mat stack, with a beautiful shimmer. Sentiment is Fiskars.

Shopping Our Stash - Foliage
I know. I have been missing for a while. I got to be Mama this past weekend - a rare occurrence with my 17 year old son. I'm back now, and very grateful to have been able to take the trip to his track meet.
This week's challenge at Shopping Our Stash is Out on a Limb. I had this great idea in my head, but it just didn't work out the way I envisioned. That's OK, I learned a few things, and am not unhappy with my results.
This week's challenge at Shopping Our Stash is Out on a Limb. I had this great idea in my head, but it just didn't work out the way I envisioned. That's OK, I learned a few things, and am not unhappy with my results.
I started with the card on the left. I made some stencils from some old mylar type sheets. I placed the cut out on a piece of watercolor paper, made my own mist from some re-inkers I had on hand, and spritzed. I cut the leaves from the same card stock as the card base. It's OK, but the Unity sentiment, inked in Anna Griffin ink and embossed in clear powder, blends in to the background. So, I tried again, misting the negative space of the stencil. Funny, the mist on both cards is the same!!!!

Masculine Tag Card
To me, tags are usually a feminine element. So I really struggled with this card.
Tim Holtz Steampunk embossing folder and Spellbinder die cut with gold paper, distressed with Staz On black ink. Unity sentiment on pebbled black card stock.
There's still time to play along with the Words 2 Scrap By June challenge - It's a Man's World!
I'm sharing this card with The Male Room - Add a Tag, and with the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers D is for Dudes.

Color Throwdown #346
This week at the Color Throwdown, the inspiration color/image is:
To me, the image and colors are so peaceful. Here is my version:
EP Spots and Dots background, Carta Bella Summer Lovin' flamingo paper (the grey in the paper didn't photograph well), Eyelet Outlet palm tree brad, Offray organza ribbon, stash bling. Looking forward to some beach time this summer!

Less is More #227 - Sunset
For the Less is More challenge, Sunset, I used distress inks for the background. Fired Brick , Spiced Marmalade, and Scattered Straw. I also inked the sentiment paper with Scattered Straw, since I didn't have the right paper to match.
Unity sentiment in VersaFine ink and clear embossing powder, Spellbinder die cuts, moire ribbon. I love how the detailed sentiment looks against the super simple background.

V is for Vellum
The Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers (how cool is that name?!?) has a challenge to use vellum on a project.
Tim Holtz Gears embossing folder, Inka Gold bronze, copper, gold. Unity sentiment VersaFine ink and clear embossing powder. The black is a frame on top of the vellum, created using a square die, twice to create a rectangle.

Wine Time!
I have a great wine-themed set of stamps that I bought in their original packaging, unmounted. I wish I could credit the designer, but there isn't any identifying information!
Both cards paper pieced. The one on the left was stamp on a slightly darker cream than the one on the one on the right. All edges inked in black. I am linking up to the Shopping Our Stash Red, Red, Wine challenge, and the Mod Squad Birthday challenge. There is plenty of time to play along with our Words 2 Scrap By challenge - It's A Man's World.
Missing You Butterflies
Missing You card for Our Daily Bread Designs June challenge, and for the Crooked Stamper Sketch challenge #5. First the card, then my explanation.
This started out as an attempt at a one layer card, and turned into an opportunity for embellishment. I stamped the vines, heat embossed, and added the die cut butterflies. Looking good! Until I stamped the sentiment CROOKED! My one layer card had to be trimmed to make the sentiment look straight, without making the vertical element look off kilter. I had to trim so much that my one layer card now has three layers. And it looks better with the blue framing the center panel than it did without. Happy accident! Unity sentiment, Spellbinder die, watercolor paper, Anna Griffith pigment ink, clear embossing powder.

Words2ScrapBy June Challenge - It's a Man's World
June is all about the men in our lives - fathers or not. The challenge this month for Words2ScrapBy is "It's a Man's World". I don't think that I say thank you enough to the men in my life.
Diamond plate embossing folder, shiny silver paper, distressed with Staz On ink. Large eyelet, Fiskars sentiment. The edges of the white sentiment are pierced using an old sewing tracing wheel. I lay the paper on a sheet of fun foam, line up a ruler, and roll the wheel along the edge. Don't press too hard - or you will perforate the paper!! Ask me how I know....
