The week's sketch challenge at Operation Write Home looks like this:
Here is my interpretation:
Not favorite, I really struggled with the embellishment, I just don't think it works. I do think I should have swapped the two green layers. I will be putting this in the "bad card pile" until I figure out what it is I don't like, and how to fix it!
Regardless of how much I like (or don't like!) my end results, I really enjoy and learn a lot from these challenges.
Paper is Basic Grey What's Up, stamp from Fiskars, Spellbinders die cut.
I like it! Love the color combo and the hearts work. Nice edging on the papers too :)
ReplyDeleteYou're being way to critical of yourself! The card looks great, the papers compliment each other, and the heart embellishment is perfect for the sentiment, which I really like!
ReplyDeleteWe are our own worst critics, aren't we?!? :)
DeleteI agree, your card looks great.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful sentiment and I love the colors on your card! Don't be too hard on yourself - what you may not like, someone else surely will :)
ReplyDeleteI was actually thinking, "Great card!" and then I read that you didn't like it! I truly understand how it feels to create something and then feel it's just "not right", but I really think you should pull this one out of the bad card pile!! And I really appreciate that you will post a card even if you don't feel it's quite right (but in this case, I think it's just right!). Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI just love those papers! If you added some twine, brads or something to the vertical panel it might feel more finished to you. Send it in...someone is going to love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful card! And I agree with Linda and Carol -- someone will love it! Plus, it's such a lovely statement!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great as it is! Truly; I think you could try it another way but it works great as you have it!
ReplyDeleteYour card looks fine just as it is and doesn't deserve to be sent to the discard pile! Lovely sentiment, gorgeous papers and I like the embellishment too.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fine like it is, but if you really want to change it, try swapping those two green layers like you suggest and using just the small green heart for the embellishment. But I think it's cute like this and I love that sentiment! Thanks for joining us in this week's Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge!
