Color Throwdown

This week’s color throwdown has a group of very soft colors that can be masculine or feminine. Here’s mine:

I used a Concord & 9th Marbled turnabout stamp that I won in a generous giveaway from C9. Great company and great stamps!  The inks are lost shadow, pumice stone, faded jeans, and stormy sky oxides.  Here is the inspiration image from Color Throwdown:

Blue, Green, and Kraft

The Color Throw Down had a blue, green, and kraft challenge. Here is my version:

The ink blended oval is Concord and 9th inks Blueberry and Parsley. Gina K Silhouette, SU sentiment.  I recently won a Concord and 9th drawing and am loving their inks I chose!!!!  I layered kraft behind the cream layer to soften the transition to the black layer. Here is the inspiration image:

Send A Smile 4 Kids - Spring or Easter

It’s the first Saturday of the month and that means it’s time for the Send A Smile 4 Kids challenge. This month we are looking to see Spring or Easter themed cards in our gallery.

This is made from a Paper Pumpkin kit. I think that I get so caught up in techniques, that I lose sight of how easy and pretty kit cards are to make. So give yourself some grace, and know that not every cards needs 20 die cuts or 10 layers. Simple is great too!!  Show off your Spring or Easter card, no matter how simple or fancy it might be at Send A Smile 4 Kids!

Celebrate Everything!

The Paper Craft Crew has a fun challenge this round.

I’m not a big Valentines person, so the banners and colors were my inspiration.

I used the Taylored Expressions Hooray quad for the background, and Honey Bee Stamps sentiment. There is a lot of great inspiration on the Paper Craft blog, be sure to check it out!

It’s been a minute!!

Life has gotten in the way of blogging.  All good things happening!  Hubs retired and that’s an adjustment in and of itself. We bought some property and are building a new home with a huge craft room. Yay for me!

I have been playing with the Taylored Expressions create in quads and triple slim layering stencils. If you haven’t tried them you should!  All 4 of these card fronts were made with one piece of paper and one quad set of stencils:

Taylored Expressions Cookie Monster, Punpkin Pie, Pineapple, and Blue Corn inks. The sentiments are from their line of Simple Strips. Love these!!!

Send A Smile 4 Kids March Challenge: 4 The Boys

The March challenge over at Send A Smile 4 Kids is cards 4 Boys.  Feminine cards tend to be more common, so cards for the boys are always appreciated!

Sentiment and papers from CTMH, the bling is from This calls for confetti.  I like how flat these sequins are!  Be sure to link up your card 4 Boys at Send A Smile 4 Kids.

Lime Green and Cyan?!?

Color Hues has an interesting challenge to use lime green and cyan.  Odd pairing (to me :)) but check out the fun examples from the design team.

The "wood" panel is taken from a Gina K tip.  Score your paper in 1/2" increments, then drag grey ink on the other side of the paper.  Instant shiplap!  The "hello" was die cut from adhesive puffy foam. Taylored Expressions Cookie Monster and Peapod inks, Gina K stamps, die cut, and stencil.  I would never have chosen this color combo on my own, but I will probably use it again!

Lots of Love

I get the Scrapbook and Cards Today monthly sampler, and it is my absolute favorite subscription.  $15 per month for papers, a die and/or a small stamp set, shipped.  Super value!!  The Sampler was perfect for The Color Hues challenge of Pink and Red and the Paper Craft Crew Love is in the Air challenge:

I used the stencil and die from the Sampler.  I inked the stencil in pink, then turned it 90 degrees and inked in red.  I didn't have the exact paper color, so I inked some white paper with the red to create the sentiment and base layer.  Such a soft, pretty effect!  Sharing with The Color Hues Pink and Red Challenge:

Winter Thank You

I always seem to need a lot of thank you cards after the holidays, and The Color Throwdown has a great combo that is perfect for a wintery card.

Hero Arts background stamp heat embossed in silver on navy card stock, Hero Arts snowflake die cut, stash sentiment and jewel.  The sentiment is popped up.  I think the silver works as grey for the challenge!

Pink & Gold

Color Hues has a lovely Pink & Gold challenge.  For me, those colors need to be on a Valentine or Love card!

A rare one-layer card for me.  Very old SU sentiment in hot pink, die cut and debossed heart in gold, and white and hot pink twine.  Super simple but deceptively easy!  Check out the fun inspiration from the design team!

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

The Shopping Our Stash challenge this time is to Shine Bright Like a Diamond, use lots of bling or use something that shines light like a sun, lamp, candle, etc.  I used the Taylored Expressions Holly Holiday layering stencil, and replaced the berries with rhinestones (on the left) and sequins (on the right).  The sentiments are from the Taylored Expressions Simple Strips.

The layering stencil creates 3 card fronts at once, and Simple Strips stamps and cuts 18 sentiments at once.  Makes mass production so easy!

Tiny Buttons

The entire time I was working on this card, I had the Tiny Bubbles song running through my head!!  Shopping Our Stash had a challenge to dig deep into your stash and create with old-school favorites like eyelets, brads, ribbons and/or buttons.  I have thousands (no exaggeration) of said items in my hoard.

We created a similar card in the Elle's Studio class from Crop and Create using stamped flowers.  I used a couple of punches for the flowers and added the coordinating buttons as the centers, and some tiny flower buttons instead of bling.  I used scraps of same paper I used for the flowers to make the rainbow accents.  I popped up the "friend" with a bit of foam tape to make it the same height as the buttons.  Fun!!!
