Happy Birthday!

I needed a masculine birthday card, and came up with this:

NOW I know what I was thinking when I bought this sentiment!  It is perfect for this guy.  Sharing with The Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge:

And with the really fun challenge form Shopping Our Stash:  WTHeck Embellishmentsgo through the stash and find embellishments that make you wonder why do you even have them, and use them.

Patriotic Popsicles

The Freshly Made Sketches challenge reminded me of a picnic:

Fussy cut SU popsicle layered on the picnic "blanket".  So cute! I adhered to the sketch pretty closely.

Color Challenge

Just Us Girls color week prompt is coral, grey, and gold.

Altenew Painted Poppy in Festive Berries and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide.  I used a swipe of Weathered Wood Distress Oxide for the grey, and placed everything on a shiny gold layer.  The tiny sentiment is from SU.  Like most of my CAS cards, it took a lot of time and pretty trash!!

Celebrate with a Shaker

The Male Room has a Monochrome challenge  As I was editing my card photo, I realized that my first Male Room challenge was #9!  They are now up to challenge #164.  Great staying power for a great group!

I participated in the Scrapbook & Cards Today Crop & Create back in March, and one of my favorite sets was from Concord & 9th.  I used their turnabout stencil with 3 different shades of blue to create the polka dots.  Balloon die to make the shaker opening, and stamped the sentiment so that it showed through the shaker filled with clear and white sequins.  Love this!!!

Soft Ink Blending

I love the colors in this week's Color Throwdown, and decided to take a little softer approach:

Pinkfresh stamp, stencil, and dies.  Taylored Expressions ink.  SU Subtle Shimmer sequins.  As Laura Bassen says, dimension is life.  Both the stenciled die cuts and the panels are popped up with dimensional tape.

I think it is interesting how the different saturations of the same colors gives a completely different look!

Rainbow Leaves

The Freshly Made Sketch this week seemed perfect for a simple sympathy card:

Paper Pumpkin sentiment, Spellbinders die cuts, Taylored Expressions Lollipop, Pumpkin Pie, Pineapple, Cookie Monster, Blue Corn inks.  The rainbow leaves were inspired by a Cathy Zielski project, and the layout by Freshly Made Sketches:

Blending In

Shopping Our Stash has a fun Blending In challenge - use ink blending on the project.

Reverse stenciling technique using Taylored Expressions Jelly Donut, Cookie Monster, and Blue Corn in, with Chantilly stencil and black ink.  The effect is so pretty, it can stand on its own with little embellishment.  Added the heat embossed sentiment, a few coordinating layers, done!

Green Thumb

The only way I have a green thumb is on paper!  This week The Paper Players have a theme challenge "Green Thumb":

Daisies for Days background stamp and centers from Taylored Expressions.  I die cut the "hello", scanned it into the Brother Scan and Cut, cut a vellum shadow layer to set off the sentiment just a bit.  Added Crushed Curry ribbon and base layer to complete the project.  This is as close to flowers I will have around my house lol!

Fancy Fold Vellum Card

I participated in the Crop and Create Delivered card making event last March, and Libby Hickson taught a great fun fold card class using vellum.  Here is my take:

I'm sharing this with Make The Cards Challenge, make a fancy fold card.

I used Taylored Expressions Squeeze The Day stamp and stencil set to create the lemons (Pineapple for lemons), leaves (Peapod), and sentiment.  I also attached a white panel to the back for additional writing space.  Love this!!

You Are Mer-mazing!

The  challenge from The Color Throwdown reminded me of the sea and mermaid scales:

Sizzix Scales & Tails cut and emboss folder, sequin soup mixed by me, air bubbles cut out of holographic paper.  I don't make shaker cards very often. They are a lot of work, and I'm not usually happy with the results. I am thrilled with this one!  Here is the inspiration photo:

Hello Sunshine

The Paper Craft Crew has a horizontal sketch challenge:

This card is rich with texture.  The purple gauze paper is from DCWV, the butterfly is a very old K & Co sticker on heavy card stock cut out on my Scan n Cut and popped up with some foam tape.  The cream square is dry embossed, and matching pearls round out the project.  Here is the PCC sketch:

July 2022: Christmas in July 4 Kids - Challenge #227

It's Christmas in July at Send A Smile 4 Kids!  This month's challenge is to make a non-religious holiday card:

I love the non-traditional colors in this paper line from Echo Park.

Send A Smile 4 Kids is a charitable blog created for the purpose of collecting donated handmade cards to be distributed to children while they are inpatient at Children’s Hospitals. Currently we are donating them to many children's hospitals all over the USA.

On any given day, there are many children inpatient in these hospitals so we would love to receive as many cards as you can send to cheer them and their families. The kids may also use your cards as Thank You Notes to the nurses and doctors and to give to parents or relatives on special days like birthdays or Mothers or Fathers Day.
