Sparkly Butterflies

I have this fabulous Paint Chip paper pad, with each page full of different shades of the same colors.  It's perfect for someone like me who has problems matching colors!!

Butterflies were die cut from an older Spellbinder set.  I added the rhinestones, a narrow ribbon, and DONE!  Sharing this with the CAS-ual Fridays CFC 174 sketch challenge:

Watercolor Butterflies

I smooshed different watercolors, die cut the butterflies, and flicked more of the watercolor onto the card base.  I added the Watercolor Wishes "Hello" in Elegant Eggplant.

Playing along with the Color Throwdown.  My colors are a bit more subtle than the inspiration image, but I like it!

Mod Squad Lazy Days of Summer

The challenge at the Mod Squad is to feature something that makes me think of the lazy days of summer.  My neighbors planted wonderful bushes and flowers that attract lots of butterflies that I love watching.

Cheery Lynn die, Darice Scroll Flourish embossing folder.

Shaped Card

I don't often make shaped cards, so I was happy to see the prompt from House of Cards.  I think I need to make these more often!
I cut the round card base, and layered a scalloped circle cut from a yummy cream and gold flecked card stock.  Then I alternated butterflies cut from the same cards stock and a deep gold metallic.  The wings of each butterfly are popped up.  I am sharing this with House of Cards - Shaped challenge.  On Wednesday, check back with Words 2 Craft By for our February challenge.

No Stamping

What a great opportunity to use some of my (many) Doodlebug stickers.
Cheery Lynn butterfly die and Doodlebug sentiment sticker colored with Sharpie Gold Metallic marker.  The black paper has a mirror-like shiny finish.  I am sharing this with Shopping Our Stash No Stamping challenge.  One more day to play along with teh Words 2 Scrap By Movember challenge!

Pearl & Silver

The Mod Squad Challenge this month is to create a project using silver and/or pearl as the main colors.  I didn't know that November is lung cancer awareness month and these are the colors.  Lung cancer can strike anyone, and affects smokers and non-smokers alike.  Many times, it is not diagnosed until the latter stages.  If you have a nagging cough, hoarseness, shortness of breath, trouble swallowing, or anything that just doesn't seem right, see your doctor!!!  (Rant over.)
The embossed layer is an amazing holographic silver metallic card stock.  The butterflies are fussy cut from white pearl paper.  Sentiment heat embossed in black.  Bling is from my stash.  In hindsight, I wish I had used either pearl or black bling, but it is fine the way it is.  I am also linking this up with CAS-ual Fridays Precious Metals challenge, hopefully it is CAS enough!  Be sure to stop by Words 2 Scrap By for our Movember challenge, open through November 28!

Our Daily Bread Designs November Challenge - Love Cards

Operation Write Home holiday deadlines are about 2 months in advance.  For example, they need Valentine cards no later than December 31.  Our Daily Bread Designs is challenging card makers to create love and Valentine cards even earlier!

Here is mine:

I embossed the white with a Sizzix texture plate, and layered it on a rich red card base (the card stock is red on one side, and white on the other, eliminating the need for a liner).  Stash organza ribbon and bling, die cuts from Sizzix and Spellbinder, SU! sentiment, patterned papers from Bazzill.  The largest red circle has a great pebble texture.

OWH Tuesday Tutorial - Paint Chips

This week's Tuesday Tutorial over at Operation Write Home is to create a card using paint chips. I have used paint chips in a few other cards on my blog.  Click here or here to see other paint chip cards.

Here is mine:
Spellbinder die, SU! Sincere Salutations, twine a gift from my friend Annette, tiny pink pearls from my stash.

OWH Mid Week Throw Down - Things with Wings

Operation Write Home's Mid Week Throw Down challenge is create a card including Things with Wings

Here is my offering:

Cheery Lynn butterfly die,  Fiskars clear stamp and swirl texture plate, India Brights Papers, Recollections kraft paper base (lined of course!), gold leafing pen on the body and tentacles, scrap trim.

I had a major score at JoAnn's today.  I have been drooling over some 5x7 paper pads of handmade papers from India.  They feel like fabric, and have beautiful foiled patterns in unique colors.  Problem?  The papers are not 5x7, more like 3 3/4 x 5, not very card friendly.  But they were tough to pass up at 70% off, and minus my 15% teacher discount!!!  For $2.55, I can make them work.  I bought 2 different pads.  Yep, I need more paper like a hole in the head...

OWH Sunday Sketch #169

This week's challenge over at Operation Write Home looks like this:

169

Here is my take:

K & Company papers and stickers, Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The butterfly sticker is on card stock, fussy cut, and then creased at the "body".  Only the "body" is adhered to the base.  I REALLY wanted to use three flowers, not two.  I did restrain myself, LOL!!!

Our Daily Bread Things That Fly Challenge

Every month, Our Daily Bread Designs has a challenge to support Operation Write Home.  For every 25 entries to their challenge, they will pay the postage for one box of cards to our deployed military.  Win Win!!  Kelley and Rick are wonderful people with wonderful products.

Here is my "Things That Fly" card:

Spellbinder dies, Offray organza ribbon, Cuttlebug embossing folder, silver vellum sticker that I stuck to a piece of clear plastic, and fussy cut.  I folded the wings to give me a flat middle to glue, and wings that popped up.  As usual, the picture does not do this one justice...
